  • Grasping Birds Tail against a straight punch – Stepping on the inside of the punch, defending high and low, staying in contact with the high elbow as we use the fingers to strike the armpit or throat, with the low hand – This is the 1st part of GBT- SAN SHOU
  • Grasping Birds Tail against a straight punch – Stepping on the outside of the punch, defending with both hands, lifting and then pulling down quickly, to disrupt the balance, then palm strike to the face – This is the 2nd part of GBT – SAN SHOU
  • Grasping Birds Tail against low punch – Stepping on the inside of the punch, defending low and low, moving in so the low arm goes behind your neck, raise your arm up and then over the opponents, for break arm style application – This is the defensive part of GBT + White Crane (Inner) – SAN SHOU
  • Step Back to Beat the Tiger – If the opponent (above) resists the lock, high hand fingers into eyes, press back the head and beat the chest with the other arm/fist – SAN SHOU
  • Single Hands Seize Leg – Against a kick to the Stomach  – Stepping on the outside, collecting the leg/ankle and lift, whilst pressing down to the face with the other hand. One hand is going up the other is going down – SAN SHOU
  • Double Hands Seize Leg – Attacker is coming in with a high punch or grab. The defender goes low, underneath the arms towards the attacker, grabbing the backs of the kneecaps. Pulling the knees towards you whilst using the shoulder (Kao) to barge into the person and topple them – SAN SHOU
  • Against a double hand push to the chest – Turn the waist and spiralling arms – Over the top and wrap up and push the opponent away (useful in push hands) – SAN SHOU
  • Against a double hand push to the chest – Turn the waist, grab the wrist and elbow. Wrist is taken low and elbow used as a pivot point, arm is locked and used to drive the opponent away (useful in push hands) – SAN SHOU

After Lunch :

  • Pushing Hands with various students – SAN SHOU
  • Sword Form practise with corrections – BING QI
  • Sword Applications – SAN SHOU

  • Embrace Tiger Return to Mountain application – This is to counter a counter technique. You have thrown a round punch, and the defender has gone in to use White Crane to throw you. Upon seeing his intentions you sink low, place on arm underneath each of his legs, come up in your stance whilst moving forward and lift the opponent off the ground. Then drop them!  – SAN SHOU

Keep Practising and Enjoy.
